This plant is a native of Central America, and therefore loves warmth and high humidity. It grows to height of approximately 18 inches (45cm) with dark green spear shaped leaves. Anthirium spathe, are a brilliant scarlet and 3 – 4 inches in size. From these protrude the spadix, the actual tail like organ that carries the flowers. These spathe stay decorative for many weeks.

Anthirium requires a constant warm room temperature 65 – 75 degrees (18 – 24 C) It will tolerate of 55 degrees (13C) for short periods.

Feed with liquid fertilizer approximately every two weeks

Maintenance:

Repot in spring every two years Remove any spent flower or brown leaves to keep plant neat and in vigor
