We want to let you know what goes into a great Halloween flower arrangement by sharing a few tips that can help you get started in purchasing or creating a fantastic design for yourself or others.

Colours

As we mentioned before (in our fall flower arrangement article), fall is a great season for enjoying flowers with vibrant, warm colours. Ideal Halloween gifts or decorative flowers take advantage of the colours that best celebrate this time of year by creating a design that is packed with reds, oranges, deep yellows and brown hues.

Flower Styles

Luckily, there are a number of flowers that look superb during the fall and take on some of the aforementioned colours during late October. You can pick from a number of beautiful flowers, only available during the autumn, when choosing the perfect Halloween flower arrangement. Flowers such as cherry daisies, Asiatic lillies, roses, red anthuriams, yellow gerbera daisies or chrysantheum all make fantastic choices to use as the foundation of your arrangement. These blooms can all be selected in the colour pallette outlined above.

Accompaniments

With fall being the harvest season, there are a wide variety of accompanying plants that can make your Halloween flower arrangement absolutely stunning. It’s a great idea to fill out your design by adding seasonal favourites like oak or maple leaves, huckleberry and other non-floral stems. Miniature pumpkins come in a number of colours and, when placed alongside a beautiful flower arrangement, add a festive touch that rounds out your arrangement perfectly.

Wicker baskets (especially in dark browns and blacks) add another nice touch to your fall design. For a kid friendly arrangement, consider placing plastic bats, skeletons and spiders in and around your flower design to further celebrate the spookier aspects of a Halloween flower design.

Keep these tips in mind when buying Halloween flowers or putting together your own holiday arrangement and enjoy a safe and fun celebration this year!

In a week, Canadians around the world will be celebrating the first official holiday of fall: Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving marks a time when the country is in the full swing of autumn. Surrounded by the vibrant colours of the season, we draw on these fabulous colours to create suitable Thanksgiving flower arrangements and gifts. And the most common of these arrangements? Here are our top 4:

1. Can’t you see this seasonal flower arrangement in the middle of your Thanksgiving dinner table? In the lush colours of the season, the Sunflower Harvest bouquet features sunflowers (of course!), daisies and greenery that is reminiscent of the real reason why we celebrate the holiday. This also makes a great gift for the host of the dinner party, since all they’ll have to do is choose a place to put it.

2. For informal to formal dinner parties, the Country Harvest Centrepiece is a perfect way to dress up the dinner table. Two candles stand amidst a bed of beautiful daisies, lilies and other delightful blooms, all in complementary colours.

3. Already have a vase? Reuse it for this stunning handtied bouquet! Colour of Autumn is a dazzling array of 17 gerbera daisies, filler flowers and a subtle touch of eucalyptus.

4. The Fruits and Flowers Gift Basket is one of our best sellers. Although it’s really suitable for any occasion, it makes a wonderful gift for the host of the dinner party, business relation, or birthday on Thanksgiving. As a centrepiece, it’s most suited for a buffet table, side table or mantle, since it is a little high for a dinner table and may block people’s view from each other.

Your Thanksgiving Florist

Don’t forget: 416-Florist.com will be open for business on this statutory holiday. We don’t take the day off so you can still receive gorgeous Thanksgiving flowers and gifts for this special day. You can specify delivery earlier on in the day by calling us to receive your arrangements in time for dinner, so you can get the freshest possible arrangement that will last well after the party’s over. Or, simply have it delivered the day before, and keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight to preserve its pristine condition.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of us Canadians celebrating around the world! In honour of this fall holiday, we’re talking about Thanksgiving flowers and gifts.

While this holiday isn’t as popular as south of the border, it’s still the most important one of the season for family and friends. There isn’t any other fall holiday celebrated across the country, is there? (Of course there’s Hallowe’en, but that’s more for the kiddies.) Thanksgiving is a time when we take a moment to appreciate what Mother Nature has given us, whether it be for a bountiful harvest, the vibrant colours of the outdoors, or the beauty of life – and that’s why flowers and fruit baskets are such popular gifts!

The Colours of the Season
Just take one look around you and you’ll know which colours are the inspiration for Thanksgiving flower arrangements. Every colour is vibrant, dazzling and rich.

Orange
Delicious orange dominates the spectrum of autumn colours. From light golden to deep, almost red, hues, orange is the most popular colour florists use to create Thanksgiving flower arrangements, or any other fall bouquets as a matter of fact. And why not? It’s a colour that we can’t imagine being anything else but Autumn.

Green
Green is another popular colour for arrangements. Aside from orchids and hydrangeas, green flowers may be hard to come by, especially if you want that darker, lusher shade that is truer to the season. No problem – instead of looking at the blooms, concern yourself with the greenery that compliments the blooms. Pick a fall flower, like gerberas or sunflowers, and add vibrant greenery to complete the arrangement. Voila – the perfect Thanksgiving arrangement!

Red
And finally, there’s red. Imagine the leaves of a Japanese maple tree this time of year, and you’ll know that shade of red we’re talking about. It’s gorgeous, but all red can look a little un-fall-like. Make it more suitable by adding green and orange, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for Thanksgiving.

With the beginning of the autumn season, many people feel depressed that the summer holidays have come to an end. But they should be happy and look forward to the many different and exciting holidays that are coming their way. One of the best festive holidays is Thanksgiving. Like Halloween that comes at a later date than Thanksgiving, the chillier autumn weather and the changing of the season’s colours to red, yellow and orange, makes it an exciting and festive time. Thanksgiving is also known as the harvest festival during which people traditionally give thanks for their harvest and food. In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October and in the United States, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month of November. This is a great time for family and friends to get together for a great Thanksgiving meal of roasted Turkey and pumpkin pie and to express gratitude for all the good things in their life.

During this Thanksgiving season you can also do your share by giving thanks to your loved ones or anyone who deserves it by sending flowers. The courteous staff at 416-Florist.com have served the City of Toronto community for a long time and offer exceptional service to our customers celebrating this joyous and colourful occasion. Our extensive selections of fresh blooms are designed in the most gorgeous manner by our specialized designers. Our designers provide you with the best floral arrangements to be delivered to your family and friends.

One great selection for the Thanksgiving season is the Country Harvest centerpiece. This exquisite yellow, orange and red design has Asiatic lilies, gerberas and chrysanthemums arranged with natural wheat and huckleberry. Preserved oak leaves and two tall yellow candles decorate the middle of this flower arrangement. The flowers are also accented with wired orange and yellow plaid ribbon.
