Steeles Memorial Chapel has proudly served the Jewish community of the Greater Toronto Area for over 70 years. If you plan to attend a Jewish funeral, as your Steeles Memorial Chapel Florist, 416-Florist.com would like to provide you some information regarding customs.

1. Dress. Guests at a Jewish funeral dress conservatively. Men should wear a coat and tie and women should wear a dress. Head coverings may be required before you enter the premises, however this depends on the family and are often provided for you.

2. Be punctual. One of the most impolite things that you can do during a service is to be late. It’s best to be on time or even a little early.

3. Do not speak loudly or joke around. This is a time of bereavement and sad remembrance. Respect other guests by maintaining a polite demeanour.

4. Although it is not customary for funeral flowers to be ordered for a service at Steeles Memorial Chapel, it may be done according to the preferences of the family. Simple funeral flower arrangements are best in this case.

It is more common for flowers to be laid out at the gravesite rather than the funeral service. Fruit baskets may also be sent to the home of the bereaved after the service.

Immediately following the service at Steeles Memorial Chapel, another will take place at the grave site.

Steeles Memorial Chapel is located at 350 Steeles Avenue West in Thornhill. Their phone number is 905-881-6003
